Money Matters Course Having Large Impact on Adult Learners

Students at a recent Money Matters course, held by the Literacy Group of Waterloo Region, are very excited about what they are learning. During the course, the students, many of which are recent immigrants to the region, learned the importance of managing their money from volunteers from T D Bank. Organizers are hopeful that the students will manage their money better after the courses held at the adult literacy program.
The most important thing most of the students learned was to keep track of where they are spending their money. They also learned to pay themselves 10 percent of any money coming into their homes. This money should be set aside to meet emergencies. Students also learned about credit card interest rates and the importance of maintaining great credit.

The Money Matters is set to roll out next year at all adult learning centers in Canada.
